For the kids who are eager to learn more about cooking and where our food comes from! These classes will have a local theme throughout where we talk about how food makes it into our kitchen and how simple it is to make delicious meals from scratch!

July 16

4pm – 5pm – Market Tour; 5pm – 8pm – Class 1

Day one we will meet at the South West Edmonton Farmers Market (at the Terwillegar Rec Centre) and along with your parents we will do a small market tour shopping for fruits, veggies and meat for the next three days of cooking. Parents will then drop their child off at Awn Kitchen for a 3-hour class.

What we’ll be cooking – tacos and fajitas! We’ll make fresh flour tortillas to have with our beef tacos and chicken fajitas, we’ll learn to prep the veggies for both too. For dessert we’ll learn how to make meringues to have with seasonal berries and cream. We’ll also make rhubarb cordial to enjoy over the three classes.

July 17

11:30am – 2:30pm

On day two we’ll be busy baking learning the ins and outs of the perfect cookie making chocolate chip cookies and a sugar cookie. We’ll also each make pastry for our pie’s that we’ll be baking tomorrow (to take home and share with our families!). For lunch we’ll make fresh pasta to have with pesto. We’ll make tzatziki to have with fresh market veggies too!

July 18

11:30am – 2:30pm

On day three we’ll continuing baking learning to make cinnamon buns and the perfect bun. For lunch, homemade burgers and fries!. Don’t worry, I didn’t forget desert, in this class we’ll learn to make the perfect angel food cake using leftover egg whites from yesterday’s pasta class which we’ll have with seasonal fruit and cream. 


Included in this class is lunch or dinner, a hands-on class with instruction and a thorough recipe pack that includes bonus recipes and a section on sourcing ingredients.
