We'll be Grand

This will be a short blog post, it’s 10 to 12, just back from The Blackbird where we celebrated Kelly’s birthday – she’s from Vancouver! It’s a calm night here, the sky is incredibly clear, and it’s about -1, brrrrr! Today there was sun, rain, hail, snow, wind, and grey skies!
Had a really good morning in the kitchen, managed to segment an orange and grapefruit, joint another chicken, and make a couple of extras on top of my order of work. I am hoping to get as much practice with my techniques and to take on extra things each day while I still can, because very quickly, I am sure we will have much more to do each morning.
Demo was taught my Darina this afternoon, entertaining as always, there was a Mexican theme running through all of the dishes, and I am excited to get into the kitchen on Thursday morning. Hoping I will be able to fit marmalade into my order of work.
Tomorrow we have a lecture day, cheese, biscuits, tray bakes, and WINE! Gardening class in the morning at 7:45 as well, where I am hoping we will head into the greenhouses and get a chance to check on the lettuce we planted on day one.
After demo this afternoon I rushed home and baked cupcakes for Kelly, I was quite pleased that our cottage has a Kenwood (Kitchenaid), and when I took it out, I realized there was no whisk attachment… Practice with the whisk, made butter cream without electricity – that’s a first.
We’ll be grand, or just simply grand is another very Irish term…
“Take off the mold, give it to the hens, we’ll be grand.” Darina Allen on mold in a jam jar.
Stock on for soup later in the week!
