Cookie Dough balls on a sheet

I shared a few tips and tricks on social media today for #awnmondays about making cookies -- and taking advantage of this deep freeze in Alberta to stock your freezer full of cookie dough balls! Here is our favourite chocolate chip cookie recipe - which comes from my good friend Cari!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

  • 220g unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar (scant)
  • 1 cup white sugar (scant)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Using the paddle attachment beat the butter to break it up, add the brown sugar and white sugar, beat for 3 minutes on medium. Whisk the eggs, one at a time, and add to the butter and sugar, scraping down the bowl in between each addition, beat well after each egg. Add the vanilla. Add the dry ingredients and bring together on low speed. Add the chocolate chips.

Form into 25g balls (don't pack them too tightly). Bake in a preheated oven (375F) for 8 to 10 minutes until they are starting to colour on the bottom and are no longer shiny on top, leave to cool for 2 minutes before putting on a wire rack to finish cooling.
