Garden Café Party

Today we got out of demo before 5, which felt pretty darn good. A few of us had to bake or shape our sour dough, so we headed into Kitchen 3 where we had a little “Garden Café Party,” as we were working with our bread. This includes a bit of wine, a bit of cheese, and a few biscuits!
Roast chicken is quite possibly my favourite meal, and if it includes stuffing that’s even better. My chicken, stuffing, and gravy all turned out well, and I made an omelette again, as well as glazed carrots. It is quite funny the simplest dishes (carrots) can teach you more than something that involves many steps and techniques.
Pam – the cake queen, did a bit of the demo with Rachel this afternoon. There were many lovely salads, pies, and beautiful cakes for us to taste after demo. Tomorrow there is a cake contest for who can decorate the best cake… I am making a chocolate sponge with chocolate buttercream and chocolate glace icing… I’m excited! Should be a fun morning in the kitchen, last day in the Demo Kitchen. Next week I am moving to the other side of the school for the first time.
No big plans for the weekend, hopefully a quiet weekend, and a productive one checking things out in the greenhouses. Might head into Cork for dinner one night to try out Pat’s (one of the teachers) restaurants, but other than that it should be pretty low key… Bed time tomorrow and Saturday will be before 4am!
I am off to bed, must rest for the cake competition tomorrow!
