Ballycotton Cliff Walk

Tomorrow is the beginning of week six…. Which means in five days we will be half way finished the course, which is nuts, and sad at all the same time.

I have figured out why Ireland is so stunning, you have this beautiful blue sea, and in the same landscape there is incredible green land. Mary and I headed into Midelton early this morning to buy a few things for our picnic, came back, packed up, met Hannah, and headed into Ballycotton. You all know I have been in and out of Ballycotton once or twice now (the location of The Blackbird!)… I knew the sea was there, and I knew there were gorgeous views, but my god the Ballycotton Cliff Walk is quite possibly one of the most incredible things I have ever seen. We walked for about 35 minutes looking at the sea, cliffs, rocks, farmer’s fields, and the sunshine, we came to a point where it seemed logical to stop (although the path continues!), sat down, had our sandwiches and a bottle of wine – not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon. After an hour enjoying the sun we headed back to the car park, the view is as beautiful on the way back, but you also have the lighthouse in your view. We stopped at one point and walked down a few steps to the ocean, the smell, the view… Wow! I kept commenting on how spongy the path was, as you walked you almost had a bounce in your step – maybe that’s why they have such good farm land here?

On our way back into Shanagarry we stopped at The Design Centre for a coffee and a treat. Again, what a view, this time we had fields, the sea and Ballycotton in our view. Then it was down the road to Stephen Pearce Pottery, where I could spend many euro! Hannah and I fileted two pollock tonight, it wasn’t a total success, but it could have been worse. Damn pin bones!
